The 2027 deadline for zero trust is closing in, and defense agencies face more than a technology upgrade. Meeting the mandate means overhauling how agencies secure data, protect critical systems and defend against increasingly sophisticated threats. In this GovExec TV episode, sponsored by Maximus, cybersecurity and defense experts break down what it will take to deliver zero trust across cloud and on-premises environments — and why success demands more than just checking compliance boxes.
The conversation covers the essential building blocks of zero trust, including Identity, Credential and Access Management, data tagging, and endpoint security, while addressing the challenges of applying zero trust in hybrid environments where legacy systems still underpin mission-critical operations. Experts will outline a phased approach to implementation, emphasizing policy alignment, continuous monitoring, and strong governance to maintain resilience against evolving threats. The discussion also explores practical strategies for assessing security posture, closing critical gaps, and building adaptable systems that support both zero trust and long-term modernization.
