Joe McMahon is Senior Director for Defense Mission Software at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). In this role, he leads strategy, innovation, and execution across the company’s defense software initiatives, advancing mission-critical capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence community. He brings deep expertise in both enterprise and mission technology modernization, data integration and analysis, and software engineering that bridges tactical operations with enterprise-scale systems.

Prior to joining GDIT, Joe served as Senior Director of Special Programs at Iron Eagle X, where he led corporate efforts to expand within the Intelligence Community and managed a program for U.S. Special Operations Command, delivering a multi-network data platform supporting global missions. He was the Chief Technologist and Director of Data Intelligence at Maxar Technologies, where he drove strategic growth initiatives, migrated enterprise systems to the cloud, and led artificial intelligence and FinOps modernization programs. Throughout his career, he managed large, distributed engineering teams delivering mission-focused data and analytics solutions to the Department of Defense and other federal customers. Across these roles, he has been recognized for cultivating high-performing teams, mentoring emerging technical talent, and aligning innovation with measurable business outcomes.

Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in computer science and electrical engineering from George Washington University.
