As the Army continues to push IT modernization, we’ll take a closer look at how industry
partners can contribute to a new era of strategic competition. In this fireside chat, Lt. Gen. Bob
Ferrell (USA, ret.) discusses the foundation he helped build and the Army’s path toward the
future of warfare.

The successful consolidating of tactical networks is critical for mission success across a
variety of Army domains. Unified network integration will combine current, evolving, and future
technologies by leveraging emerging tech and threat intelligence to evolve warfighting
capabilities. It will also provide modern support to the soldier of the future. How will the Army
use tactical network integration and what will it look like? The G-6’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Lt.
Gen. John Morrison, breaks it all down.

Maj. Gen. Maria Barrett and Gus Mendiola continue the conversation on unified network
integration -- including barriers to innovation, IT infrastructure needs, the role of culture plays in
larger modernization efforts, and how difficult some of these challenges can be to implement.

Maintaining mission readiness across all domains starts with proper training. Emerging tech --
like AI -- will play an important role in areas like cybersecurity and info-sharing across networks.
But concepts like Zero Trust won’t be leveraged to their full potential without effective training,
partnerships, and communication. Brig. Gen. Paul Craft and Rick Peña discuss best practices in some of those areas for enabling the Army’s modernization journey.
