From Risk to Resilience: Strengthening Supply Chains

30 minutes

A resilient supply chain that can withstand a variety of climate related threats such as flooding, extreme heat, and other weather disasters is an essential component of national security. But with experts estimating that the world’s militaries produce 5.5% of global greenhouse gasses, going beyond just climate proofing supply chains to playing a proactive part in reducing emissions is imperative. How can leaders collaborate both across the public sector and with their private sector partners to pursue sustainability in operations? In this panel discussion, government experts will explore methods for strengthening supply chain resilience against climate threats. Leaders will discuss how policies, such as the Biden administration’s proposed climate climate reporting, procurement specifications, and a comprehensive, publicly communicated, climate strategy can contribute to a greener supply chain.

Fueling the Future: Operations in a Clean Energy World

30 minutes

Clean energy has the ability to transform many aspects of operations - from efficiently run bases and installations that save money, to hybrid vehicles that can be concealed from sensors on satellites, aircraft, and missiles, to tactical equipment that enable servicemen to operate in extreme temperatures. The promise of clean energy technologies and their applications are exciting from both a national security and global climate change perspective. Moving from that potential to reality however is more complicated. In this fireside chat, a government expert will dive deep into the clean energy solutions making an impact on their mission today and explore the research and development initiatives that they believe will transform tomorrow.
