A Centralized Cybersecurity Strategy

Karen Sorady, Vice President, CIS Stakeholder Engagement Operations, Multi-State Information Sharing & Analysis Center (MS-ISAC), Center for Internet Security

Jaimee Kidd, Manager, GovExec

Description

As security leaders are anxiously awaiting a long overdue national cybersecurity strategy, they are not without expectations. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, and the Cybersecurity Executive Order, to name a few, all point to critical strategy recommendations for agencies. Most notably, the focus on defensive infrastructure built on the principles of zero trust, is all the buzz.

How are leaders making sense of the current mandates and anticipated direction? Where are they investing most of their time and efforts? And what funding opportunities already exist to support these efforts? In this session, GovExec sits down with the agencies at the forefront of answering these questions to better understand the current priorities for security experts and their proactive responses to growing threats.

Description

The Technology Modernization Fund, established in 2017, is intended to serve as a central hub of loans for IT upgrades. Over the past few years, it received a steady influx in funding to broaden its support arm and provide awards to agencies in need of critical cybersecurity and pandemic-related projects. With support from TMF, leaders have continued to keep eyes on emerging projects focused on zero trust, cloud computing and beyond.

In this session, GovExec highlights the projects moving the needle forward in cybersecurity and the lessons learned in implementing new strategies.
